Club legend, Ash McGrath, has called last drinks on his career. McGrath today said that this weekend’s game against Fremantle at the Gabba would be his last.
Ash calling it quits means Brisbane’s last Premiership player will leave the club.
McGrath’s final game will mark his 214th for the Brisbane Lions. During his epic 14 year career he has been a part of three premierships, playing in one, he won the International Rules Jim Steynes medal last year and scored 169 goals.
It has been a rough trot for the Lions lately with the mass exodus of players at the end of last year and the retirement of two club legends: Jonathan Brown and McGrath. However Lions fans can take comfort in our emerging squad. Next year will be a humdinger.
Thanks Ash for your years of commitment to the Lions. We wish you all the best for your future.
