The Lions went down 21.17.143 to 12.9.81 to the Geelong Cats in a hard fought contest tonight.
Brisbane took to the field minus their dynamic duo of Dayne Zorko and Tom Rockliff.
Pearce Hanley showed early on just how dangerous he can be with the ball. In attempting a clearance early in the first quarter Hanley booted the Sherrin smack-bang into the face of an unsuspecting Darcy Gardiner, knocking him out for a moment. Gardiner was dragged from the field, clearly in another world.
The 62 point deficit doesnít really reflect how hotly contested the game was. The Lions fought tooth and nail until the bitter end.
Tom Hawkins bagged himself seven majors and two behinds in a dominant performance. Tomahawk was able to shrug off the Brisbane defenders, using his power and frame to take ten marks in his seven goal spree.
†Pearce Hanley, Stefan Martin and Josh Green fought valiantly to try and fill the void left by Zorko and Rockliff. As per usual we had some great transitions from end to end but we just lacked that key forward up front. Itís as plain to see as dogs balls that the Lions need a power forward to finish off all the great work our midfield does in getting the ball to the 50.
Was Gardinerís falcon the greatest falcon of all time?
