It looks as though the Lions have already been quite prolific on the trading scene this go-around.
Brisbane started by de-listing seven players including James Polkinghorne and Andrew Raines. Then there were the persistent rumours that Daniel Merrett was being shopped around to other clubs at a bargain basement price.
Now word is that Pearce Hanley’s younger brother, Cian, will be joining Brisbane despite suffering an ACL injury that will see him out of commission for a while.
The Lions have been putting in bids for Essendon ruckman, Paddy Ryder, going tit-for-tat with Port Adelaide to chase his signature. Hopefully Ryder will be making a decision in the coming couple of days on where he will spend 2015.
But now the big news has dropped.
Collingwood midfielder, Dayne Beams, has told the ‘Pies that he’s a bit homesick and wants to move to Queensland so he can be around friends and family. Beams’ signature would be a great coup for the Lions and their chances are heightened by the fact that Dayne’s brother Claye is already with the club.
Dayne Beams would round off our mozzies and bring Premiership experience to a club that has just lost its last Premiership experienced players in Jonathan Brown and Ash McGrath.
This is shaping to be a very exciting trade period where the Lions are involved. Surely there will be many more rumours, signature’s and cases of homesickness to come.
Who else should the Lions be chasing?
