Brisbane Lions young gun James Aish may have played his last game for the club after he was ruled out of the rest of the AFL season due to injury.

Aish, 19, ruptured a tendon in a finger on his left hand during Brisbane's heavy loss to North Melbourne at the Gabba on Saturday night.

He underwent surgery on Monday night and will be in a splint for six weeks, with a full recovery not anticipated for another three months.

"James is one of our really good young players and we are really disappointed he will miss the rest of the season," Lions general manager of football Dean Warren said.

"But our main concern is getting him 100 per cent right.

"These injuries dont heal by themselves, and for the best outcome they need to be operated on as soon after the injury as possible."

Brisbane selected Aish with the number seven pick in the 2013 AFL draft but the South Australian product has been heavily linked with a move away from the Gabba next year, most likely to Carlton.
