He was due to make his debut for the Brisbane Lions tomorrow night against Port Adelaide but firsts year player Sam Skinner has been forced out of the side with a knee injury.

Skinner came into the AFL system having already suffered a number of injuries, including an ACL tear in his knee, which he hyper-extended during training yesterday.

The Lions still named the youngster in hope that his knee would reduce in swelling overnight, but that unfortunately wasn't the case this morning when he arrived at training.

Scans have later revealed that Skinner has fully ruptured his ACL and will require a full knee reconstruction.
