Brisbane Lions assistant coach Simon Black has announced that he will be leaving the Lions at the end of the season to put time and effort into his recently established academy.
The Simon Black Academy was founded within the last twelve months, with Black looking to further expand that over the next 12 to 24 months.
"I'm looking at stepping back from a full-time role at the club," Black said.
"I've set up an academy recently in the last 12 months. We're looking at expanding it a little bit, and when you've got your name attached to it, you've obviously got to have a degree of presence.
"Despite the win-loss ratio this year, I've really enjoyed the coaching role.
"It's been a really, really tough decision to get to this point."
The midfield coach says he still plans to be around the club as often as he can, but cannot commit to a full-time commitment to the club.
"I'll still be around. I hope to have some sort of small role with the club still next year. I've still got to work out what that may look like," Black said
